With the vision to develop an university as the most preferred institute for young men and women who are aspiring for productive careers, Madurai Kamaraj University was founded in 1966. Within a few decades it gained its strong foothold in the field of higher education and attained the status of University with Potential for Excellence for ‘Teaching, Research and Outreach’ in 2007.The University with 20 Schools comprising 77 Departments offers 44 Post Graduate, 40 M.Phil., 57 Ph.D programmes and 17 diploma and P.G. diploma or certificate courses has produced about one crore graduates in the past 50 years. Madurai Kamaraj University offers admission to MA, M.Sc (certain specializations), M.P.Ed, M.Ed, MBA and MCA courses on the basis of Entrance Test while admission to some specializations of MA, M.Sc, M.Com and M.Li.I.Sc is offered on the basis of marks in the relevant Bachelor’s degree.
